Sad/Beautiful

Fri Oct 21, 2005, 7:51 PM
So today i was about to go for a run and I look out the window of my sun room. I see what appears to be a odd shaped mushroom with blue at the base. Having never seen anything like that before I'm suspicious that it is not a mushroom. I have my i-pod in my hand and so i open the door and step out onto the proch. My dog dashes ahead of me and runs around the yard. I walk up to the hill and the look up the stone wall to see what's on the hill. I realize that what appeared to be a mushroom was in fact a blue jay. I run up the hill and run over to the bird. At first i get a little teary eyed thinking it's dead and then see that it is breathing quite heavily. I start talking to the bird (yeah...i konw that sounds insnae) and tell it that it will lve, and that it can get through this bad time. I cup the bird in my hands, the whole time trying to avoid my dog, who is suspicious of anything that does not smell of dogfood or human. I dash down to my basement and show my dad, who then yells at me to bring the bird out of the house, in case it suddenly decides to fly. After a while of examining the bird my dad and i concured that it's right wing and foot were broken, so i put on the birdbath so nothing would attack it before it could revive itself. Then i went out for a run. When i got back an hour or so later my dad shook his heard and i quickly went over to the birdbath. THe poor creature was dead in there and that was quite sad. Strangely I had the urge to fetch my camera and take picture of the bird. I don't believe this is because I'm obsessed with death or am some wacko crazy person. I just felt that the death of such an innocent creature and my inability to help it was such a sad and unfortuante thing. I took some pictures to help remind myself that innocent things often die because of human beings (my dad and i have concluded the poor thing may have hit our windows). I am now going to consider putting some sort of sticky thing on windows to make them apparent to birds. So i dedicate the blue jay pictures to all the poor brids who have died.
